Please complete below to receive notifications for Postgraduate Student Project calls at the University of Bristol. Academic and industrial supervisors are welcome to register. Our postgraduate students are welcome to design their projects in collaboration with potential supervisors from the University of Bristol, the UK and beyond. A Bristol co-supervisor is required for any off-site project.
Each project call will fit one of the following scopes:
Individual First-Year Project for QE-CDT students
Assessed postgraduate module, compulsory for all 1st year QE-CDT students. The project lasts 12 weeks and is held alongside other taught modules. The students choose the projects from a list compiled for each call. At the end of the project, the students have to produce a report or a presentation that will be assessed. Each call will require a 1-2 page project description. The programme requires students to undertake two of these projects, one in the spring term (Individual Project A) and one in the summer term (Individual Project B). Separate calls will be issued for each term.
Projects for MSc in Optoelectronics and Quantum Technologies students
These are research-oriented projects for MSc students. The project lasts from January to September with a literature review section from January to April. The students choose the projects from a list compiled in December, thus project titles and details are needed by late October. At the end of the project, the students have to produce a poster and a dissertation that will be assessed by a Bristol Academic. Each call will require a 1 paragraph project description.
PhD project for QE-CDT students.
We offer a yearly session to meet and interact with the students for any potential supervisors. This session should serve to offer exposure for any potential supervisors looking to recruit students and allow for a 1-on-1 interaction with the students and an opportunity to explore different PhD project themes. Students are encouraged to explore several PhD project options. The QE-CDT management team will provide feedback on 2-page proposals elaborated by the students on each option.
